Preparing for the Big Day

Mom: I'm worried that there will be so many people running, I won't see you and Amanda go by.

Courtney: Don't worry. We know exactly where you will be standing. And we'll make sure we're on that side of the street. And our singlets are bright orange.

Mom: Ok. (Still skeptical) Well, can you also call a few minutes before you get there so we won't miss you?

Courtney: (Pause.) Mom, I won't be running with a cell phone.

Mom: (Somewhat incredulous) Really?

You may have watched the marathon before, but if you've never been watching for your daughter / sister / classmate / colleague / friend / cousin, you too may need some help preparing.

Have no fear. Amanda and I are preparing a handy guide:
"How to watch the marathon:
Specifically, how to cheer for Amanda and Courtney"

It will be filled with surefire tips to not miss us as we cruise by you, including how to use the BAA's runner tracker, preferred dimensions and text on the signs you make, good excuses for getting the day off from work, and who else might need some encouragement along the route.

There are fewer than 7 weeks until the marathon. We're getting ready, it's time for you to start doing the same.

Here is a helpful course guide that could offer the Amanda and Courtney Super Fans an estimated time of arrival based on where they would be watching.

Courtney and Amanda, watch for Dave's tailgate flag and we'll watch for the orange.
