The light at the end of the tunnel

Facebook told me this morning that it is exactly 26.2 days until Marathon Monday!  Thank goodness we all seem to be picking up a little speed from the lackluster last few weeks.   It's funny to read all my teammates blogs, as most people, like Courtney and I, have been burning the candle at both ends.  But this week is going to be the turnaround point for me, because I can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel.

This past weekend the weather was simply amazing.  It got close to 70 degrees on Saturday, and the conditions were spectacular for the Half of Quincy on Sunday.  Courtney and I ran with a few other DFMCers, and we were all cheered on by our teammates Amy, Stephanie and Eric.  If you remember, I ran a PR at the Hyannis Half Marathon in February, and I thought it would be difficult to beat that given the rough week I had last week.  But I was able to finish 1 minute ahead of my Hyannis time in 2:05:01.  YAY! for new PRs!  Courtney did amazing as well, and broke the 2 hour mark.  She has the makings of an elite runner I tell you.

This week is a light training week in anticipation of the 20+ mile run this weekend.  We'll be running from Boston College backwards along the marathon course for about 10 miles, then turn around and come right back up Heartbreak Hill.  Sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday morning, no?  Thankfully we will get to celebrate that evening at Sean and Steph's annual fundraiser at Beantown Pub.  If you're in the area, come by - it is sure to be a good time!
