Thursday was our first official unofficial DFMC run. We met at Crossroads Bar near Mass Ave and Beacon Street, changed into our running clothes and ran a nice 5 miler around the Charles River. The weather was great, and I ran with Courtney and 2 other teammates, Melissa and Mark. The beauty of running with other people is that most are faster than me, so I was able to maintain a 9 min or so pace! Far faster than what I run on my own. Plus, it was nice to get to know some of my teammates better. The best part actually came after the run, when we got back to Crossroads, strechted a bit and order a few picthers of beer and some pizzas. Nothing like ending a great run with an ice cold beer.
Now don't get me wrong, not EVERY run is followed by a beer! But I am going to look forward to Thursday nights from now on! Soon, the 5 mile loop will turn into the 9 mile Heartbreak Hill route from the Woodland t-stop back to Crossroads. Who said Heartbreak Hill had to be difficult? Once we have a few of those runs under our belts, we'll be cruising on marathon day.
